Steven Lamprell took up permanent residence in Dubai in the late 1970s and founded the business shortly thereafter. For over 30 years, Steven has worked to build the Group, strengthening the management team and guiding them in the development of the Company. Throughout that period, Steven has presided over the Group’s emergence as an increasingly important player in the Arabian Gulf in providing services to the offshore oil industry. Since the listing in London, Steven has worked as the Company’s President, assisting in the development of relationships with individuals, companies and governmental bodies important to the ongoing success of the Group.
James Moffat joined Lamprell in March 2013 as Chief Executive. James has over 35 years of experience in the offshore engineering, construction and project management sectors. From 1996 and until joining the Lamprell Group, James was employed with KBR group of companies, working in various roles including heading up the KJV on the Gorgon Project, Australia since August 2010 and, before that, acting as VP of worldwide Offshore Construction and, subsequently VP Project Management (Asia Pacific) from 2008 to 2010. As the General Manager of KJV (Gorgon), James managed a very large integrated project management team comprising contractor and client staff.
James worked for the McDermott group from 1977 to 1996 where he latterly managed the Batam facility in Indonesia. Before his time in Indonesia, James was working for the McDermott group in Scotland, concentrating on the structural and engineering requirements for construction and load-out of jackets, decks and modules.
James has a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Edinburgh University and is a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Karl joined Lamprell in February 2014. Karl has over 28 years business development, operations and strategy experience in the EPC industry. Karl took his first business development role in 1991 with a JV entity involving Brown & Root and Saipem where after he took on various high level sales and business development assignments for KBR in the UK, Asia Pacific and US. In 2002 he managed the commercial and business development activities for KBR’s Asia-Pacific region. He later moved through several management positions before becoming Senior Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for a multi-billion dollar business unit in the US in 2008. Most recently, Karl was the Executive Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer at KBR. Karl has a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Plymouth, Devon.
Kevin Isles joined Lamprell in 1997. Before this, he worked globally with J Ray McDermott for 12 years, holding various positions relevant to fabrication, installation and commissioning of fixed offshore platforms. Since joining Lamprell, Kevin has occupied a number of positions before being promoted to Vice President Operations in December 2001, to Vice President Sharjah Facility in November 2004 and to Senior Executive Vice President in March 2013. As Senior Executive Vice President, Kevin works closely with the CEO on a range of strategic and client management activities for the Group.
Alex Ridout joined Lamprell as General Counsel and Company Secretary on 4 November 2012.
Alex is a UK-qualified solicitor and, until October 2012, was employed as the company secretary and general counsel for Dragon Oil plc (an independent exploration and production company with a premium listing on the London Stock Exchange and a primary listing on the Irish Stock Exchange and a market cap of over US$4 billion). He held this role since April 2006.
After completing his training contract in the London office of Boodle Hatfield, Alex moved to the commercial department of Arnander Irvine Zeitman and worked on a mixture of commercial contracts and IT/IP work. In February 2002, Alex started work as the Region Counsel for the Middle East legal group of Baker Hughes, a Fortune 500 oilfield services company, where he worked until moving to Dragon Oil.
Alex is a regular presenter at external seminars on commercial contracts within the oil industry and corporate governance/compliance matters, particularly within the context of a listed company.
John Macdonald joined Lamprell in April 2012 as Vice-President HR and Administration. For the past 20 years, John has held various HR management and specialist positions in the oil & gas, E&C and utilities sectors. He has spent 12 years in the Middle East and 2 years in USA where he held senior HR roles with CB&I, a global oil & gas EPC contractor, Weatherford and Saudi Aramco. Prior to relocating to Dubai in 1998, John had almost 20 years with United Utilities plc in UK where he progressed to become HR Director for their international businesses. John has an MSc in Management from the University of Salford and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Ryan Jervis joined Lamprell in Sept 2011. Ryan is responsible for the Group’s Corporate Strategy and Investment activity, incorporating a range of strategic focus areas including traditional M&A as well as major Group investments and Joint Ventures. Prior to joining Lamprell Ryan was Director of Corporate Transactions at Kurt Salmon in London, where he developed the transaction assistance department within the Ineum Consulting Group. In addition to Ryan’s advisory experience he has held strategy, transactions and accounting roles with AMEC plc, both in the UK and the Americas. Ryan is a Chartered Management Accountant, and holds an honours degree in Pure Mathematics from the University of Bath.
Barry Blythe joined Lamprell in January 2013 as Vice President, Procurement & Supply Chain. Prior to this he worked as Senior Director – Procurement and Subcontracts with McDermott Middle East. Trained as a Mechanical/ Production Engineer in the UK auto industry, Barry moved to the Oil & Gas industry in the mid 1970s joining J Ray McDermott North Sea Division where he held a variety of positions both onshore and offshore. Barry has over 36 years’ experience in the EPIC offshore construction industry, executing numerous projects for Shell, ConocoPhillips, Enron, BP, Union Oil, Saudi Aramco, Conoco Polar Lights Company, AMOCO, Kvaerner, Pemex Project joint ventures with Keppel Fels (Singapore – USA) and Dragardos (Spain). Barry has held senior procurement and management positions with Oilfield Inspection Services, Conoco Wood Group, SLP Engineering, Oderbrecht Oil and Gas, Technip, as well as running several of his own business ventures. Barry brings a wealth of experience in corporate and project procurement management, sub-contract & commercial and materials management. Barry has worked with international clients in Iran, Mexico, USA, FSU, UK, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Caspian, India and UAE.
Sabih Laham joined Lamprell in May 2012 as Vice President Engineering. He brings over 29 years of sound technical, project execution and management experience of EPIC projects in a wide range of terrains across the UK, Holland, France, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, India, the Caspian Sea area and the Far East. Prior to joining Lamprell, Sabih worked for McDermott International, Petrofac and NPCC in the UAE and prior to that he worked for British Energy, ABS Consulting and McDermott in the UK. He has completed many major EPIC projects for reputed engineering consultants and EPIC companies specialised in the offshore Oil & Gas, Defence and Nuclear sectors.
Sabih is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and has a BSc (Hons) in Civil and Structural Engineering, an MSc in Structural Engineering, and a PhD. in Fracture Mechanics applications into Fatigue, Fracture and Ultimate Strength of Tubular Joints in Offshore Platforms from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST).
Neil Millar joined Lamprell in 1999 as a Project Engineer at the Sharjah facility and shortly thereafter was promoted to Project Manager. In 2002 Neil moved to the then new facility in Jebel Ali as Senior Project Manager and was instrumental in establishing the project management systems for new build projects. Subsequently Neil held the positions of Manager of Projects and General Manager before being appointed as Vice President Jebel Ali in June 2011. In January 2013, Neil was appointed to the role of Vice President, Facilities and Fabrication and is responsible for all Production and Operations services across all three main facilities - Hamriyah, Jebel Ali and Sharjah. Neil graduated in 1989 with a BEng honours degree and prior to joining Lamprell worked for a North Sea fabrication yard in the UK, moving to Dubai in 1991 to work for J Ray McDermott for 7 1/2 years followed by a short spell with Global Offshore Industries in Thailand.
Niall O’Connell joined Lamprell as Vice President, Projects in April 2013 to lead the Group’s project management team. Prior to joining Lamprell, Niall worked for KBR for 7 years in a number of senior roles including his most recent role as LNG Plant Director for the Gorgon Project in Australia. Niall spent 11 years with Cape Industrial Services, where he served as International Project Director covering the Middle East and Russia. Niall has a MBA from Trinity College.
Alan Robson joined Lamprell in March 2013 as Vice President, HSES. Alan worked for BG Group (formally British Gas) for over 30 years and has enjoyed a highly successful career in HSE management. Alan has spent the last 22 years on international assignments including Qatar, Iran, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Trinidad, Japan and Russia, and became VP of SHE&S for BG in Tunisia in 2004. Two years later he joined the RASGAS project in Qatar before joining Gorgon LNG project in Australia as Director of HES.
Dan Wibberley joined Lamprell in 1999 and was promoted to his current position in April 2012. Dan is responsible for all proposals and the commercial and contractual aspects of all project activities undertaken by the Group. During 25 years in the construction industry Dan has undertaken commercial management roles in both the civil engineering and oil & gas construction industries; prior to joining Lamprell, Dan worked predominantly for Kier Construction Limited across the United Kingdom. He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Oil & Gas contract law from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Shumon Zaman joined Lamprell in February 2013 as ERP Project Director. Shumon is a Fellow of the British Computer Society with over 20 years’ experience in the technology sector covering multiple industries and global organisations, having held executive roles prior to joining Lamprell.
Shumon started his career with a FTSE 100 company in the UK and was instrumental in undertaking major business and technology transformation projects across Europe, North America, South America and the Asia Pacific region. In 2002, he moved to the UAE and was the Chief Information Officer and CEO (Oracle Practice) for a major conglomerate in the region.
Shumon was promoted to Vice President of Systems and Technology in 2014 after the successful delivery of phase 1 of the ERP project.
George Jacob joined Lamprell in 1982. He is one of the longest serving employees in the Group and has been an integral part of the development of the current areas of business. He trained as a naval architect and assisted in Lamprell’s early ship repair and offshore maintenance work. Following the diversification of the Lamprell business into jackup conversions and refurbishments, George has become a specialist in providing design and engineering solutions to the Company’s various projects. With Lamprell’s rapid growth and acquisition of Maritime Industrial Services (MIS) and was assigned as Vice President Engineering in 1998. As Vice President Technical Support, George will primarily focus on the Company’s new build jackup and rig refurbishment businesses, providing support to both the commercial and operations team.
