Protection of our environment is one of the cornerstones of our operating philosophy. Our policy is to strive to achieve continual improvement in environmental performance. We are committed to preventing pollution and reducing the overall impact of our operations on the environment. In addition, we maintain an internal management structure for the management of environmental issues which includes clearly defined responsibilities for environmental management capable of delivering this policy commitment. Our environmental performance is managed through local Environmental Management Systems developed to be consistent with the Group policies and expectations.
We recognize that our activities have the potential to affect the environment and, together with our clients, we eliminate the potential for any environmental impact. A key tool in this is the performance of risk and site assessments prior to operations at all new locations.
At all times Lamprell aims to comply with and where possible exceed applicable legal and other requirements relating to the organisation. We are also committed to monitoring our environmental performance and setting objectives and targets for improvement and at all times provide appropriate training and awareness programmes for our staff. We continue to look for improvements in environmental performance with the key focus on fuel spillage control and bunding and the use of more fuel efficient engines with reduced atmospheric emissions. We also recognize our role in promoting environmental responsibility within our operations and with all those involved in our operations.
