Lamprell’s Hamriyah Phase 1 facility, which has been operational since early 2010, is purpose-built for new build construction and refurbishment of offshore drilling rigs, land drilling rigs, wind farm installation vessels and oil & gas structures. This facility has a total area of nearly 300,000m2, of which 60% is open construction area. This facility has direct access to a total of 1,250m of quayside, with a water depth of 9m at low tide. The quayside is designed to facilitate the load out of structures onto barges or heavy lift vessels. With a 20,000m2 covered fabrication shop equipped with overhead cranes, nearly 34,000m2 of fabrication pads similarly equipped with gantry cranes, and almost 3,000m2 of enclosed blasting and painting areas, the facility is ideally suited for the construction of any structure.

In addition, the Phase 1 facility has a state-of-the-art semi-automated 12 x 12m IMG panel line with a capacity of 40 tonnes per day throughput. There is also an API certified mechanical workshop dedicated to the overhaul and repair of drilling equipment which allows us to offer our clients a one-stop location for their rigs and drilling equipment. Lamprell maintains a core yard labor workforce in Hamriyah of more than 2,500 skilled tradesmen. This can be supplemented with short-term hire of local labor which allows us to have in excess of 5,000 men working at the facility at any given time.

Just inland from the main Hamriyah free zone is an area known as Phase 2, which is part of the free zone though divided by the main Ajman/Um Al Quwain road, and Lamprell has two facilities here. The first is an area of approximately 40,000m2 which includes a covered warehouse of 1,000m2 where our Land Rig Services division is situated. The second is an area of 115,000m2 which is under development for the new state-of-the-art pipe shop for both carbon and stainless steel pipe fabrication, complete with testing, blasting and painting facilities. The new pipe shop area will also be home to a warehouse and have an open area for steel laydown and general fabrication to support the main yard.
