Overall purpose of role
Carry out assigned engineering activities to ensure design deliverables are completed within the approved budget and schedule, demonstrating a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility. Ensure all deliverables meet contractual requirements through the preparation of drawings, material specifications, data sheets, and technical bid evaluations. Coordinate effectively with other disciplines and departments as needed, while ensuring adherence to quality system procedures.
Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities
- Coordinate with internal departments as directed by the Senior or Lead Engineer and, under their guidance, contribute to the preparation of project-specific specifications for EPC projects and other projects involving basic and detailed engineering, feasibility studies, and tender documents. Take responsibility for the accuracy of assigned design deliverables.
- Report daily project activities to the Senior or Lead Engineer and manage the execution, control, reporting, and monitoring of tasks assigned by them. Prepare various engineering deliverables such as single line diagrams, layouts, schematics, termination drawings, block diagrams, schedules, narratives, hook-ups, sizing calculations and analyses, instrument and equipment datasheets, equipment specifications, and system specifications.
- Participate in interdisciplinary checks and material engineering tasks including preparation of purchase specifications, purchase requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor document reviews. Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, regulations, procedures, and contractual requirements. Attend project and engineering review meetings, process and safety workshops, site surveys, factory acceptance tests, and inspections as instructed. Provide input and support to operations, commissioning, and completion teams. Take responsibility for change management and risk identification related to assigned activities.
- Identify personal training needs to the Senior or Lead Engineer, propose design improvements and lessons learned, and assist the discipline manager or lead engineer in achieving departmental key performance indicators. Ensure compliance with HSES policies and procedures as well as all applicable information security policies and procedures.
Attainment
- Minimum education: B.E., B.Tech., or B.S. in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
- Minimum experience: 2–5 years in offshore or onshore oil and gas facilities with a major EPC contractor and/or consultant.
- Familiar with engineering standards such as IEC, ISA, API, NFPA, IEEE, and client standards including SHELL, ARAMCO, and MOBIL.
- Hands-on experience with software tools like ETAP, InstruCalc, Intools, and EDSA.
- Skilled in preparation of specifications, technical evaluations, and vendor documentation reviews.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Site experience and/or site deputation experience.
