Overall purpose of role

Demonstrates a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility while preparing design deliverables in accordance with approved budgets and schedules, ensuring that all outputs fully comply with contractual requirements.

Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities

  • Monitor overall discipline deliverables throughout the project, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Perform interdisciplinary checks and coordinate between different design disciplines to maintain consistency and integration.
  • Assist designers in preparing and reviewing plot plans, equipment layouts, piping layouts, and support layouts.
  • Conduct design calculations and piping stress analysis as required.
  • Prepare design bases, project-specific specifications, feasibility studies, and tender documents for EPC and other engineering projects.
  • Manage material engineering activities, including preparation of purchase specifications, purchase requisitions, technical bid analysis, and evaluation of vendor documents and drawings after order.
  • Support construction engineering activities, including preparation of Material Take-Offs (MTOs), shop drawings, and job packages for issuance.
  • Conduct site surveys for jobs and bids to ensure accurate design inputs.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, clients, and inspection agencies to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, regulations, and company procedures.
  • Monitor progress and adherence to the scheduled completion of engineering documents.
  • Capture and incorporate all changes or modifications communicated by the project prior to deliverable release.
  • Attend project review meetings and provide updates on discipline deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with HSES policies, procedures, and applicable information security requirements.

Attainment

Education: BSc or BE in Mechanical Engineering; Diploma in Piping Engineering. A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is an advantage.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in offshore/onshore oil and gas facilities or drilling rigs, preferably with a major EPC contractor or consultant.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, or ABS MODU rules.

Skills: Experienced in preparing specifications, conducting technical evaluations, and reviewing vendor documentation.

Materials Expertise: Proficient in piping materials and valves, including selection, specification, and application in design and construction projects.
