Overall purpose of role

Carry out assigned engineering activities to ensure design deliverables are completed within the approved budget and schedule, demonstrating a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility while ensuring all deliverables meet contractual requirements.

Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities

  • Prepare documents, drawings, material specifications, data sheets, and conduct technical bid evaluations.
  • Execute and control assigned tasks as directed by the Lead Engineer or Discipline Manager.
  • Coordinate with internal departments as instructed by the Lead Engineer.
  • Prepare safety design deliverables including HSE Plans, HSE Philosophy, and Loss Prevention Philosophy.
  • Develop technical specifications and data sheets for firefighting, safety, life-saving equipment, and safety signage.
  • Prepare Fire and Gas Detection philosophy and layouts, cause and effect diagrams, hazardous area classification schedules and layouts, safety sign schedules and layouts, fireproofing specifications and layouts, firefighting and safety equipment specifications, and fire fighting safety and escape route layouts.
  • Design fire protection systems and prepare hazardous area classification drawings.
  • Conduct technical bid evaluations for all safety-related items and review vendor documentation.
  • Prepare and review data sheets and line lists for safety items.
  • Participate in HSE workshops such as HAZID, HAZOP, and SIL.
  • Assist in interdisciplinary checks and coordination.
  • Ensure adherence to Quality System Procedures.
  • Report daily project activities to the Lead Engineer or Discipline Manager.
  • Take responsibility for the accuracy of own and assigned team’s design deliverables.
  • Support the Discipline Manager and Lead Engineer in achieving departmental key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable information security policies and procedures.

Attainment

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (B.E., B.Tech., or B.S.).
  • 4 to 5 years of Safety Engineering experience in EPCI or consultancy organizations, with mandatory offshore experience in the oil and gas sector.
