Overall purpose of role
Carry out assigned engineering activities to ensure design deliverables are completed on time and within the approved budget, demonstrating a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility, while ensuring all outputs fully comply with contractual requirements.
Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities
- Prepare documents, drawings, material specifications, and data sheets for safety and fire protection systems.
- Execute and control assigned tasks under the guidance of the Lead Engineer or Discipline Manager.
- Coordinate with internal departments as instructed by the Lead Engineer to ensure project alignment.
- Develop safety design deliverables, including HSE Plans, HSE Philosophy, and Loss Prevention Philosophy.
- Prepare technical specifications and data sheets for firefighting systems, safety equipment, life-saving appliances, and safety signs.
- Develop fire and gas detection philosophies/layouts, cause-and-effect diagrams, hazardous area classification schedules/layouts, safety sign schedules/layouts, fireproofing specifications/layouts, and firefighting/safety equipment specifications.
- Design fire protection systems and prepare hazardous area classification drawings.
- Conduct technical bid evaluations for safety-related items and review vendor documents.
- Prepare and verify data sheets and line lists for safety equipment.
- Participate in HSE workshops such as HAZID, HAZOP, and SIL assessments.
- Support interdisciplinary checks and coordination to ensure integration with other disciplines.
- Ensure adherence to quality system procedures and maintain the accuracy of own and assigned team’s deliverables.
- Report day-to-day project activities to the Lead Engineer or Discipline Manager.
- Assist the Discipline Manager/Lead Engineer in achieving departmental key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure compliance with all applicable information security policies and procedures.
Attainment
Education: Minimum B.E., B.Tech., or B.S. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
Experience: 4–5 years of safety engineering experience in EPCI or consultancy organizations, preferably in the oil and gas sector, with mandatory offshore experience.
