Overall purpose of role
Demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility while executing and controlling tasks assigned by the Assistant Manager or Lead Engineer. Manage multiple projects simultaneously and produce design deliverables. Lead the detailed engineering design of the assigned work area, ensuring completion within the planned schedule and budget, in accordance with fabrication standards and Level 2 procedures, maintaining a high professional standard. Ensure all deliverables comply with contractual requirements, codes, standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities
- Execute engineering activities including concept development, front-end engineering, technical studies, and detailed design.
- Contribute to the preparation of design deliverables such as design and construction drawings, structural analysis, and reports, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards while maintaining technical quality.
- Identify scope and schedule changes following the Change Management Procedure.
- Determine manpower requirements based on workload.
- Monitor progress and ensure adherence to the scheduled completion of engineering documents.
- Capture and incorporate all changes or modifications communicated by the project prior to releasing deliverables.
- Ensure all documents and drawings undergo appropriate checking and review before release at any revision status.
- Prepare specifications, perform technical evaluations, and review vendor documentation.
- Interface with other departments to incorporate up-to-date inputs as applicable.
- Maintain the required technical quality of work consistently.
- Attend project review and 3D model review meetings as needed.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors.
- Control the quality of engineering documents in accordance with quality assurance standards.
- Review material take-offs (MTO) and material requisitions.
- Provide necessary inputs for bids.
- Take responsibility for the structural engineering integrity of the assigned work area.
Attainment
- Minimum education: BSc or BTech degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; MSc or MTech degree is an advantage.
- Minimum experience: 2 to 5 years in offshore oil and gas facilities or drilling rigs, working with major construction yards, EPC contractors, or consultants.
- Familiar with engineering standards including ASME, AISC, API, ASTM, and BS/EN, as well as classification rules and regulatory requirements such as ABS, DNV, BV, and CAP 437.
- Hands-on experience with structural software such as StaadPro, SACS, ANSYS, and MathCAD.
