Overall purpose of role

Carry out assigned commissioning activities in accordance with approved procedures and schedules, while coordinating with other disciplines and departments as required. Ensure strict adherence to Lamprell policies and procedures.

Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities

  • Adhere to HSES procedures and ensure strict compliance with Permit to Work, lockout/tagout (energization/isolation), work at height, and confined space entry requirements during commissioning.
  • Actively participate in safety initiatives such as safety walks and toolbox talks.
  • Authorized to stop work immediately if an unsafe act or condition is identified.
  • Collaborate effectively with various departments to meet project requirements.
  • Interface and coordinate with other discipline production engineers to ensure smooth integration of commissioning activities with ongoing construction work.
  • Attend daily commissioning meetings.
  • Assist in drafting pre-commissioning inspection test records and commissioning procedures relevant to mechanical and electrical equipment or systems.
  • Identify work hazards, assess risks, and prepare Task Risk Assessments or Job Safety Analyses. Authorized to sign commissioning permits and work crew registrations as the performing authority.
  • Follow the completion process for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Monitor subsystem MCC issuance and the clearance status of commissioning punch lists.
  • Conduct line and system walks to identify potential issues well in advance of commissioning.
  • Identify required tools for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, ensuring all testing and measuring instruments are calibrated.
  • Maintain the calibration register for all tools.
  • Perform pre-commissioning and commissioning checks on relevant subsystems and equipment according to manufacturer instructions and approved procedures.
  • Execute pre-commissioning and commissioning activities safely, efficiently, and within scheduled timelines.
  • Authorized to sign off pre-commissioning inspection test records after verification.
  • Responsible for the safe execution of commissioning and coordination with clients, vendors, and classification authorities on site.
  • Manage daily commissioning operations, including system start-ups and monitoring of consumables such as diesel, lubricants, fresh water, power, and cooling.
  • Authorized to perform on-site troubleshooting to resolve issues.
  • Update pre-commissioning and commissioning punch lists in the Project Information Management System.
  • Follow manufacturers’ and vendors’ recommended practices and procedures for post-commissioning requirements.
  • Communicate pre-commissioning and commissioning issues promptly to the commissioning engineer.
  • Record operational parameters of subsystems and equipment during commissioning.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping at the site.
  • Report daily commissioning progress and issues to the Senior Commissioning Engineer.
  • Liaise with clients, vendors, classification societies, and other relevant departments to close out commissioning punch items.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable HSES policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all relevant information security policies and procedures.

Attainment

  • Minimum education: ITI or Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Mechanical trade.
  • Minimum experience: 5 years of hands-on commissioning experience with rig equipment in offshore or onshore oil and gas facilities, preferably with a major EPIC contractor.
  • Physically fit and capable of working in extreme climatic conditions.
  • Ability to read and interpret relevant engineering drawings.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across diverse disciplines and teams.
  • Confident communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Demonstrates good teamwork abilities.
  • Experience in commissioning tools management.
  • Basic understanding of the completion process.
  • User knowledge of completion software such as Project Information Management System (PIMS).
