Overall purpose of role
Carry out engineering design and prepare drawings in compliance with customer technical specifications, company standards, and production and user department requirements. Plan, distribute, monitor, and check the development of electrical, instrumentation, and telecom drawings and documents. Manage resource planning and allocation while monitoring multiple projects to ensure timely production of accurate design deliverables.
Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities
- Develop designs such as equipment layouts, EIT support drawings, single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematics, termination drawings, hook-ups, and 3D models, under the guidance of the Senior/Lead Engineer.
- Assist in activity and deliverable planning, scheduling, and monitoring in coordination with the Senior/Lead Engineer.
- Participate in bid engineering, including man-hour and material estimation.
- Distribute, monitor, and check the work of the assigned team to ensure quality and timely completion.
- Conduct reviews for overall completeness, safety, access and egress, materials handling, maintenance, and operability.
- Perform inter-disciplinary design checks.
- Ensure timely delivery and schedule compliance of design deliverables, including material requisitions (MRs).
- Provide input for material requisitions, allocation, and material reconciliation.
- Review and comment on vendor drawings and incorporate vendor data into design deliverables.
- Perform site surveys as required to support design activities.
- Responsible for change management and identification of project risks.
- Ensure adherence to project specifications and compliance with company procedures.
- Propose design improvements and incorporate lessons learned into future projects.
- Support the Lead/Senior Engineer in performance assessments of designers and identification of training needs.
- Assist the Lead/Senior Engineer in achieving departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Act as a checker for design-related deliverables, when necessary.
- Identify, manage, and control software requirements for design execution.
- Oversee project closeout activities, including the preparation and submission of as-built documentation.
- Coordinate project activities across multiple office locations to ensure smooth execution.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSES) policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all applicable information security policies and procedures.
Attainment
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.E. / B.Tech. / B.S.) in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering; a Master’s degree in the same field is an added advantage.
- Minimum Experience: Over 10 years of relevant experience in offshore/onshore oil and gas facilities, preferably with major EPC contractors and/or consultants.
- Proficient in PDMS/Aveva or equivalent 3D modeling tools, as well as AutoCAD.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Well-versed in electrical and instrumentation standards, equipment, and materials.
- Familiar with international engineering standards such as IEC, ISA, API, NFPA, and IEEE.
- Practical experience working on-site or deputed to project sites is highly desirable.
