Overall purpose of role

Serve as the Lead Engineer for a project or multiple projects, ensuring the production of design deliverables in accordance with contract requirements, approved budget and schedule, and in full compliance with Lamprell policies, procedures, and the Lamprell Group Management System (LGMS).

Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities

  • Ensure all deliverables meet contractual requirements and are completed in accordance with project specifications.
  • Review and approve material requisitions, data sheets, and technical bid evaluations.
  • Coordinate effectively with other disciplines and departments to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Liaise directly with clients to address project requirements, progress, and concerns.
  • Promote and implement Quality Systems Procedures with a strong focus on a First-Time-Right (FTR) approach.
  • Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee the overall execution, control, and monitoring of assigned projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members; mentor junior engineers as needed.
  • Liaise with Project Engineering Managers, Fabrication Operations, Project Managers/Engineers, QA/QC Engineers, HSE, Procurement Engineers, and Clients.
  • Lead and take ownership of the preparation of mechanical design deliverables, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Interface with department leads to incorporate current inputs across disciplines into the design.
  • Organize and manage the workload of the mechanical engineering team, aligning with project schedules.
  • Conduct manpower estimation, work planning, forecasting, and ensure efficient utilization of resources.
  • Monitor engineering progress and ensure adherence to scheduled completion of documents.
  • Apply recognized engineering practices throughout the design process.
  • Provide ongoing technical support and design expertise to engineers and designers.
  • Lead all mechanical engineering-related design review meetings.
  • Monitor and review all design changes to ensure they are captured and reflected in deliverables.
  • Take full ownership of deliverables and ensure their quality prior to submission.
  • Verify all modifications communicated by the project team are captured before document release.
  • Ensure thorough checking and review of all drawings and documents before issuance at any revision status.
  • Escalate any resource or infrastructure issues that could impact production or schedule.
  • Conduct training and orientation sessions for engineers and designers as per the Department Training Plan.
  • Maintain, control, and monitor the Quality Assurance system effectively.
  • Attend all QA audits relevant to the assigned projects.
  • Assist the Engineering Department Manager in departmental operations when required.
  • Approve corrective actions in response to Corrective Action Requests (CARs).
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable HSES policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant information security policies and procedures.

Attainment

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (BSc/BE) in a relevant engineering discipline; a Master’s degree (MSc/MTech) is an advantage.
  • Experience: Over 10 years of experience in offshore oil and gas facilities, drilling rigs, and pipelines with major EPC contractors and/or consultants.
  • Proven experience in preparing specifications, conducting technical evaluations, reviewing vendor documentation, designing mechanical systems, and supporting construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to initiate and approve design and execution procedures.
  • Proven capability to mentor and influence others in safety principles and safe behavior.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working in a multinational environment with exposure to diverse cultures and customs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively across multiple disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of international codes and standards.
