Material Controller – Instrumentation

Overall purpose of role

Perform material take-offs from drawings and enter material data into the Material Management system under the overall guidance of Senior or Lead Designers and Engineers, ensuring compliance with project technical specifications and company standards. Prepare material requisitions with necessary attachments and specifications, working across multiple projects to produce the required deliverables.

Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities

• Provide assistance to Engineers and Designers in material take-offs from drawings and documents, including the creation of part IDs in the Material Management system according to material descriptions.
• Enter bulk, drawing-wise material take-offs into the Material Management system and prepare material requisitions with all necessary attachments such as specifications and datasheets, following the guidance of Engineers.
• Assist in the preparation of bid material take-offs and their entry into the Material Management system.
• Prepare project material tracking reports comparing material requisition quantities against drawing quantities and maintain records as directed by Designers or Engineers.
• Support Engineers and Designers in preparing material reconciliations at the end of projects.
• Ensure compliance with HSES policies and procedures as well as all applicable information security policies and procedures.

Attainment

• Minimum education: ITI in Draftsmanship or Diploma in an Engineering discipline, preferably in Electrical or Instrumentation.
• Minimum experience: 1–3 years in offshore or onshore oil and gas facilities or drilling rigs within the design or construction industry.
• Proficient in MS Office applications with knowledge of electrical and instrumentation material specifications and drafting.
• Familiar with international standards and possesses a good understanding of electrical and instrumentation materials.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact across multiple disciplines.
• Knowledge of MicroStation and AutoCAD for reading drawings and performing material take-offs (MTOs).
