Overall purpose of role

Carry out engineering design and prepare drawings and related documents, ensuring compliance with customer technical specifications, company standards, and the requirements of production and user departments. Plan, distribute, monitor, and check work activities related to electrical design, including resource planning and allocation. Oversee multiple projects simultaneously and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality design deliverables.

Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities

  • Ensure compliance with HSES policies and procedures, as well as all applicable information security policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate project engineering activities across multiple office locations to ensure alignment and efficiency.
  • Develop design deliverables including layouts, schedules, support drawings, single line diagrams (SLDs), schematics, termination drawings, hook-ups, 3D models, and installation drawings in coordination with the Lead or Principal Engineer.
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor activities and deliverables, and report progress to the Project Lead, Project Engineering Manager (PEM), and Deputy/Discipline Manager (DyDM/DM). Participate in bid engineering by preparing material take-offs (MTOs) and material requisitions (MRs), estimating man-hours and software requirements, identifying risks, and developing mitigation plans.
  • Distribute, monitor, and check the work of assigned team members; review deliverables for technical compliance, completeness, safety, accessibility, materials handling, maintenance, and operability; and perform inter-disciplinary checks.
  • Ensure design deliverables comply with project schedules and specifications, provide input for material requisitions, and manage allocation and reconciliation of materials.
  • Review and comment on vendor drawings and integrate vendor data into project documentation. Perform site surveys when required and take responsibility for change management and risk identification.
  • Propose design improvements, value engineering solutions, and optimizations. Assist the Lead or Principal Engineer in performance evaluations of designers and in identifying training needs. Support the Lead, Principal Engineer, or Discipline Manager in achieving departmental key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Act as a checker for design-related deliverables when necessary, oversee software requirements, and supervise project closeout activities including as-built documentation and the compilation of lessons learned.

Attainment

  • Minimum education: Diploma, B.E., B.Tech., or B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum experience: Over 15 years in offshore and onshore oil and gas facilities with major EPC contractors and/or consultants.
  • Proficient in S3D/E3D and AutoCAD/MicroStation software.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively across multiple disciplines.
  • Well-versed in electrical and instrumentation standards and materials, and familiar with engineering standards such as IEC, ISA, API, NFPA, and IEEE.
  • Possesses site experience, including site deputation.
