Overall purpose of role
Carry out engineering design and prepare the necessary drawings and documents, ensuring compliance with customer technical specifications, company standards, and the requirements of production and user departments. Plan, distribute, monitor, and review work activities for the development of instrumentation, including resource planning and allocation. Oversee multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality design outputs.
Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities
- Ensure compliance with HSES and information security policies and procedures.
- Coordinate project engineering activities across multiple office locations.
- Develop design deliverables such as layouts, schedules, support drawings, SLDs, schematics, termination drawings, hook-ups, 3D models, and installation drawings in coordination with the lead or principal engineer.
- Plan, schedule, monitor, and report activities and deliverables to project leads and managers.
- Participate in bid engineering, including preparation of MTOs and MRs, estimating man-hours and software requirements, identifying risks, and proposing mitigation plans.
- Assign, monitor, and check the work of the team to ensure technical compliance, completeness, safety, accessibility, material handling, maintenance, and operability.
- Perform interdisciplinary checks and ensure design deliverables meet schedule requirements.
- Provide input for material requisition, allocation, and reconciliation of materials.
- Review and comment on vendor drawings, incorporate vendor data into deliverables, and conduct site surveys as needed.
- Manage changes, identify risks, and ensure compliance with project specifications and company procedures.
- Recommend design improvements, value engineering, and optimizations.
- Assist lead or principal engineers in performance assessments, identifying training needs, and achieving departmental KPIs.
- Act as a checker for design deliverables when required.
- Identify and manage software requirements.
- Supervise project closeout, including as-built documentation and lessons learned.
Attainment
- Minimum Education: Diploma, B.E., B.Tech., or B.S. in Instrumentation Engineering.
- Minimum Experience: 15+ years in offshore/onshore oil and gas facilities with a major EPC contractor or consultant; proficiency in S3D, E3D, and AutoCAD/MicroStation.
- Skills and Knowledge: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact across multiple disciplines; well-versed in electrical and instrumentation standards and materials; familiar with engineering standards such as IEC, ISA, API, NFPA, and IEEE; site and site-deputation experience preferred.
