Overall purpose of role
Demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility while deputizing for the Assistant Manager during their absence. Manage multiple projects, ensuring that design deliverables are completed within the approved budget and schedule, and fully comply with contractual requirements.
Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities
- Lead the piping discipline for assigned project(s).
- Plan activities, assign work, schedule tasks, and monitor progress, including interdisciplinary checks and coordination.
- Guide the preparation and review of plot plans, equipment layouts, and piping layouts.
- Provide guidance and review for design calculations and piping stress analysis.
- Prepare design basis documents and project-specific specifications for EPC and other projects involving basic and detailed engineering, feasibility studies, and tender document preparation.
- Manage material engineering tasks such as preparation of purchase specifications, requisitions, technical bid analysis, and evaluation of vendor documents and drawings after order placement.
- Oversee construction engineering activities, including material take-offs (MTOs), shop drawings, and job package preparation and issuance.
- Organize site surveys for jobs and bid proposals.
- Coordinate with internal departments, clients, and inspection agencies.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, regulations, and procedures.
- Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to scheduled completion of engineering documents.
- Attend project review meetings.
- Manage change control and trend notifications.
- Identify training needs of team members.
- Monitor budget compliance related to design deliverable production.
- Review bid enquiry documents, clarifications, and qualifications; estimate activities including MTOs, engineering deliverable lists, risk identification, engineering man-hours, and software requirements.
- Ensure compliance with HSES policies and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable information security policies and procedures.
- Work within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system.
Attainment
- Minimum education: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Diploma in Piping Engineering or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is an advantage.
- Minimum experience: Over 20 years in offshore and onshore oil and gas facilities or drilling rigs, working with major EPC contractors and/or consultants.
