Overall purpose of role

Manage multiple projects as a Lead Engineer, ensuring design deliverables are completed within the approved budget and schedule. Demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility while ensuring all deliverables comply with contractual requirements. Review and approve material requisitions, data sheets, and technical bid evaluations to support project success.

Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities

  • Assist the Discipline Manager in managing the discipline and team.
  • Lead the structural discipline for assigned project(s).
  • Coordinate with internal departments, clients, audit, and inspection agencies. Conduct internal quality audits as instructed by the Discipline Manager.
  • Plan activities, assign work, schedule tasks, and monitor progress.
  • Interface with Assistant Managers of other departments to incorporate up-to-date inputs as applicable.
  • Provide technical guidance on material engineering, including preparation of purchase specifications, purchase requisitions (as required), technical bid evaluations, and vendor document reviews.
  • Estimate manpower requirements, plan and forecast work, optimize manpower utilization, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of engineering documents.
  • Ensure adherence to recognized engineering practices.
  • Provide technical support to engineers and designers.
  • Attend project review, design review, and 3D model review meetings as needed.
  • Monitor and review design changes, issuing appropriate revision orders promptly.
  • Take ownership of deliverables and their quality, ensuring thorough checks are performed.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors.
  • Control the quality of engineering documents based on quality assurance standards.
  • Identify training needs of team members and conduct relevant training and orientation on structural design activities.
  • Identify design improvements and lessons learned for continuous enhancement.
  • Keep the Discipline Manager informed of project progress according to agreed schedules.
  • Monitor budget compliance related to design deliverable production.

Attainment

  • Minimum qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of international codes and standards.
  • Minimum experience: Over 15 years in offshore oil and gas facilities or drilling rigs, working with major construction yards, EPC contractors, or consultants.
  • Experience in preparation of specifications, technical evaluations, and vendor documentation review.
