Overall purpose of role

Support the Planning Department across all business units—including proposals, active projects, and functional or group-level activities—by ensuring full compliance with company planning policies and procedures, while safeguarding the company’s commercial interests at all times.

Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities

  • Develop and review all planning-related procedures to ensure alignment with best practices and project requirements.
  • Assist in the smooth execution of project planning activities, including schedule development, progress reporting, and forecasting.
  • Ensure effective and accurate integration of EPCI schedules, including subcontractor work scopes.
  • Provide input for project manpower requirements in the Group Manpower Forecasting System.
  • Represent the planning function in senior management forums and strategic discussions.
  • Mentor and train planning team members to enhance capability and performance.
  • Support the development, updates, and maintenance of planning-related software tools.
  • Contribute to the organization’s change management efforts at all levels.
  • Maintain strong relationships with senior management, internal departments, clients, and subcontractors/vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable HSES (Health, Safety, Environment, and Security) policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable information security policies and procedures.
  • Authorized to deputize for the Planning Manager during periods of absence.

Attainment

  • Minimum of 15 years’ planning experience within the EPCI environment in the energy sector, including oil & gas and renewables.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an industry-recognized management qualification.
  • In-depth knowledge of planning principles and techniques, with strong proficiency in planning software such as Primavera (P6) and Microsoft Project (MSP).
  • Proven ability to review and revise planning processes and procedures to align with business needs.
  • Solid understanding of delay analysis and schedule risk analysis techniques.
  • Ability to interpret contracts and legal documents, ensuring planning deliverables meet all contractual requirements or flag areas of non-compliance.
  • Skilled in identifying, assessing, and quantifying commercial risks and opportunities related to project schedules.
