Overall purpose of role
The System Administrator is responsible for the efficient management, operation, and support of the organization’s 3D design software environment. This role ensures the system is optimally configured, operates smoothly, and remains accessible to design and engineering teams to facilitate the creation of high-quality, accurate 3D models and designs. Key responsibilities include managing software updates, performing system backups, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining user access and data security protocols.
Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities
- Responsible for the smooth operation, security, and optimization of the 3D system critical to design project success.
- Manage system configuration, user access, and vendor coordination.
- Ensure system availability, user satisfaction, and compliance with industry standards, security protocols, and licensing agreements.
- Install and configure 3D software according to project and organizational requirements.
- Perform system updates, patches, and upgrades to maintain an optimized environment.
- Monitor system performance and resolve issues such as slow operation or software bugs.
- Optimize system settings to maximize efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Provide technical support, troubleshoot software issues, and respond to user queries.
- Conduct training sessions and provide user guides to improve software proficiency.
- Manage project data integrity through proper storage, access, and backups.
- Enforce access control policies to secure data and restrict unauthorized access.
- Plan and execute regular data backups and test restoration procedures to ensure disaster recovery readiness.
- Customize the 3D system to meet specific project requirements and workflows.
- Integrate the 3D system with other software such as ERP, CAD, or document management tools.
- Maintain current software licenses and ensure vendor compliance.
- Manage license allocation to meet user needs and avoid compliance issues.
- Liaise with vendors for technical support, patches, and feature requests.
- Coordinate with vendors to resolve critical software issues affecting projects.
- Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation on processes, configurations, troubleshooting, and user guidelines.
- Collaborate with engineering, IT, and project teams to integrate the 3D system into workflows.
- Provide input on technical requirements and coordinate cross-departmental solutions.
Attainment
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in a relevant role managing 3D design software environments.
- Competency: Strong hands-on expertise in operating and configuring 3D design software.
- Description: Capable of installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the 3D software environment. A solid understanding of the software’s architecture, workflows, and features is essential to effectively support design teams and resolve issues.
