Overall purpose of role
Senior Cost Engineer, will support (and lead if required) the cost function ensuring that all commercial project related activities are carried out in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures.
Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities
- Responsible for personal safety and for adhering to HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) processes and guidelines.
- Ensure effective communication between the cost control function and all key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with cost control processes and regularly review them to confirm they remain fit for purpose and efficient.
- Prepare a detailed budget breakdown from the Project Estimate Document (PED), review it with the Projects Team, and upload it into the Compass system.
- Maintain and manage data within the Oracle systems.
- Prepare invoices in accordance with contract milestones or agreed payment terms, including all relevant supporting documentation.
- Support the Finance Department in following up with clients on pending payments.
- Update the project cash flow in collaboration with the Project Manager, submit it to Finance, and highlight any major deviations from the original cash flow profile.
- Prepare cost estimates and assess the financial impact of project changes; monitor actual costs against changes.
- Compile and update contract cost reports across the portfolio, including Value of Work Done (VOWD), Forecast to Go, Estimate at Completion (EAC), variance analysis, movement commentary, and cash position.
- Liaise with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and other relevant departments to maintain awareness of project activities and their budgetary impacts.
- Participate in project cost performance meetings and provide insights as needed.
- Support the cost close-out process, ensuring the project balance sheet is finalized and clear.
- Prepare monthly cost review slides for Project Management Team (PMT) meetings.
- Attend client-side Project Controls meetings as required to present cost status updates.
- Provide updated project budgets and revenue forecasts to support business unit planning.

Attainment
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferably in major oil and gas projects.
- At least 3 years of experience in a dedicated Cost Engineer role.
- Bachelor’s degree in cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using cost estimation and risk analysis software.
- Thorough understanding of project execution processes.
- Ability to interpret contract terms, conditions, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with total cost management techniques and established cost engineering practices.
