Senior Designer – E& I

Overall purpose of role

Carry out engineering design and prepare drawings, ensuring compliance with customer technical specifications, company standards, and production and user department requirements. Plan, distribute, monitor, and review work activities related to the development of electrical, instrumentation, and telecom drawings and documents. Oversee project activities to ensure timely production of design deliverables.

Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities

• Develop designs including equipment layouts, E&I support drawings, single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematics, termination drawings, hook-ups, 3D models, and lists with overall assistance from Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer, or Lead Designer.
• Plan, schedule, and monitor team activities in coordination with the Senior Engineer or Lead Designer.
• Participate in bid engineering, including estimating man-hours and materials.
• Distribute, monitor, and review the work of the assigned team.
• Review designs for overall completeness, safety, access and egress, materials handling, maintenance, and operability.
• Perform interdisciplinary checks to ensure design integrity.
• Ensure design deliverables, including material requisitions (MRs), comply with the project schedule.
• Prepare material take-offs (MTOs), material requisitions, allocation, and reconciliation.
• Review and provide feedback on vendor drawings and incorporate vendor data into deliverables.
• Conduct site surveys as necessary.
• Manage change control and identify risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications and company procedures.
• Propose design improvements and document lessons learned.
• Assist lead or senior engineers/designers in achieving department key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Act as a checker for documents to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Identify and manage software requirements for the team.
• Supervise project closeout activities, including preparation of as-built documentation.
• Coordinate project activities across multiple office locations.
• Supervise larger teams of drafters and designers.
• Plan and manage training and development programs for team personnel.
• Perform 3D modeling and conduct periodic overall model reviews to ensure content completeness.
• Mentor and train draftsmen to enhance their skills and performance.
• Ensure compliance with HSES policies and procedures as applicable.
• Ensure adherence to all applicable information security policies and procedures.

Attainment

• Minimum Education: Diploma or ITI in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
• Minimum Experience: 8 to 14 years in offshore, onshore, or drilling rigs within the design and construction industry.
• Proficient in PDMS, Aveva or equivalent software, and AutoCAD.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively across multiple disciplines.
• Well-versed in Electrical and Instrumentation standards and materials.
• Possess site experience, including site deputation.
