Overall purpose of role
Responsible for the distribution, monitoring, and review of piping design and construction drawings, including plot plans, equipment layouts, piping plans, isometrics, and supports. Ensure all deliverables comply with customer technical specifications, company standards, and the requirements of production and user departments. Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously while delivering high-quality design outputs.
Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities
- Independently develop designs such as plot plans, equipment layouts, and piping plans with overall guidance from senior or lead engineers.
- Collaborate with the job engineer on activity planning and scheduling.
- Manage a team of 4–5 designers by distributing tasks, monitoring progress, and reviewing work for quality and accuracy.
- Conduct design reviews to ensure completeness, adherence to safety standards, proper access and material handling, as well as maintenance and operability considerations.
- Perform inter-disciplinary checks.
- Prepare construction drawing packages, including isometrics, material take-offs, and support details.
- Develop and maintain drawing lists.
- Review and provide comments on vendor drawings.
- Perform site surveys as required.
- Ensure full compliance with HSES policies and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable information security policies and procedures.
Attainment
- Minimum education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Over 10 years of experience in offshore, onshore, or drilling rigs design and construction industry.
- Hands-on experience with PDMS, Aveva, SP3D, or equivalent software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across multiple disciplines.
- Well-versed in piping materials and dimensional standards.
- Sound knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards.
- Thorough understanding of API Q1, 4F, and 16C standards when working for LRS.
