Overall purpose of role
Responsible for the distribution, monitoring, and checking of piping design and construction drawings, including plot plans, equipment layouts, piping plans, isometrics, and support details. Ensures all deliverables comply with customer technical specifications, company standards, and the requirements of production and end-user departments.
Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities
- Independently develop designs such as plot plans, equipment layouts, and piping plans with overall support from the senior or lead engineer.
- Plan and schedule activities in coordination with the job engineer.
- Distribute, monitor, and check the work of a team of 4–5 designers.
- Review designs for overall completeness, safety considerations, access and egress, material handling compliance, maintenance, and operability.
- Perform inter-disciplinary checks to ensure coordination across disciplines.
- Prepare construction drawings and job packages, including isometrics, material take-offs (MTOs), and support details.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive drawing list.
- Review and provide comments on vendor drawings.
- Perform site surveys as necessary to support design accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with HSES (Health, Safety, Environment, and Security) policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all applicable information security policies and procedures.
Attainment
- Minimum education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum experience: Over 10 years in offshore, onshore, or drilling rig design and construction.
- Hands-on experience with PDMS, AVEVA, SP3D, or equivalent 3D design software.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact across multiple disciplines.
- Well-versed in piping materials and dimensional standards.
