Overall purpose of role
Demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility while deputizing for the Lead Engineer in their absence. Manage multiple projects, producing design deliverables that comply with contractual requirements and are completed within the approved budget and schedule.
Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities
- Plan, schedule, monitor activities, and coordinate interdisciplinary checks.
- Guide the preparation and review of plot plans, equipment layouts, and piping layouts.
- Oversee and review design calculations and piping stress analysis.
- Prepare design basis and project-specific specifications for EPC and other projects involving basic and detailed engineering, including feasibility studies and tender document preparation.
- Manage material engineering tasks such as preparing purchase specifications and requisitions, conducting technical bid analyses, and evaluating vendor documents and drawings after order placement.
- Handle construction engineering activities including material take-offs (MTOs), shop drawings, and job package preparation and issuance.
- Conduct site surveys for jobs and bids.
- Coordinate with internal departments, clients, and inspection agencies.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, regulations, and procedures.
- Monitor progress and ensure adherence to scheduled completion of engineering documents.
- Capture and document all project-intimated changes and modifications before releasing deliverables.
- Attend project review meetings.
- Review bid enquiry documents, clarifications, qualifications, and conduct estimation activities including MTOs, engineering deliverable lists, and engineering man-hour estimates.
- Ensure compliance with HSES policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable information security policies and procedures.
Attainment
- Minimum education: BSc or BE degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Diploma in Piping Engineering or a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is an advantage.
- Minimum experience: Over 8 years in offshore and onshore oil and gas facilities or drilling rigs with a major EPC contractor or consultant.
