Overall purpose of role
Demonstrates a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility while deputizing for the Lead Engineer in their absence. Manages multiple projects to produce high-quality design deliverables within approved budgets and schedules, ensuring that all outputs comply fully with contractual requirements.
Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities
- Plan, schedule, and monitor activities while performing interdisciplinary checks and coordination.
- Guide the preparation and review of plot plans, equipment layouts, and piping layouts.
- Provide guidance and review for design calculations and piping stress analysis.
- Prepare design basis documents, project-specific specifications, feasibility studies, and tender documents for EPC and other engineering projects involving basic or detailed engineering.
- Manage material engineering activities, including preparation of purchase specifications, purchase requisitions, technical bid analysis, and evaluation of vendor documents/drawings after order.
- Support construction engineering activities, including preparation of Material Take-Offs (MTOs), shop drawings, and job packages for issuance.
- Conduct site surveys for jobs and bid submissions.
- Coordinate with internal departments, clients, and inspection agencies to ensure alignment and compliance.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, regulations, and company procedures.
- Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to scheduled completion of engineering documents.
- Capture and incorporate all changes or modifications communicated by the project prior to deliverable release.
- Attend project review meetings and provide updates on deliverables.
- Review bid enquiry documents, respond to clarifications, and support estimation activities including MTOs, engineering deliverable lists, and engineering man-hour estimates.
- Ensure compliance with HSES policies, procedures, and all applicable information security requirements.
Attainment
Education: BSc/BE in Mechanical Engineering; Diploma in Piping Engineering or a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is an advantage.
Experience: Minimum 8 years in offshore/onshore oil and gas facilities or drilling rigs, preferably with a major EPC contractor or consultant.
