Overall purpose of role

Demonstrates a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility while overseeing the execution and control of tasks assigned by the Assistant Manager or Lead Engineer. Manages multiple projects and leads the detailed engineering design of assigned work areas, ensuring completion within the planned schedule and budget, in accordance with fabrication standards, Level 2 procedures, and high professional standards. Ensures that all deliverables comply fully with contractual requirements, applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities

  • Execute engineering activities across all phases, including Concept, Front-End Engineering, Technical Studies, and Detailed Design.
  • Prepare and contribute to design deliverables such as design and construction drawings, structural analysis, and reports, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Management Procedure.
  • Assess manpower requirements based on workload and ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Monitor project progress and adherence to scheduled completion of engineering documents.
  • Capture and incorporate all changes or modifications communicated by the project prior to deliverable release.
  • Ensure thorough checking and review of all documents and drawings before release at any revision status.
  • Prepare specifications, conduct technical evaluations, and review vendor documentation.
  • Interface with other departments to incorporate up-to-date inputs into engineering deliverables.
  • Maintain high technical quality of work across all assigned tasks.
  • Attend project review and 3D model review meetings as required.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors to ensure integration and compliance.
  • Control the quality of engineering documents in line with quality assurance standards.
  • Review Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and material requisitions to ensure accuracy.
  • Provide required inputs for bids and proposals.
  • Ensure the structural engineering integrity of the assigned work area.

Attainment

Education: BSc/BTech in Civil or Structural Engineering; MSc/MTech is an advantage.

Experience: 6–9 years in offshore oil and gas facilities or drilling rigs, preferably with a major construction yard, EPC contractor, or consultant.

Technical Knowledge: Familiar with engineering standards such as ASME, AISC, API, ASTM, BS/EN, and classification rules/regulatory requirements including ABS, DNV, BV, CAP 437, etc.

Software Skills: Hands-on experience with structural analysis and design software such as STAAD.Pro, SACS, ANSYS, MathCAD, or equivalent.
