Overall purpose of role

Responsible for sourcing and completing Framework Agreements for technically specified materials, consumables, and services with high spend and volume, based on techno-commercial analysis and risk profiles tailored to Lamprell’s operations. It involves managing team responsibilities to ensure deadlines are met and acting as the main liaison between internal and external stakeholders.

The role requires strong skills in technical research, spend and technical analysis, tendering, market appraisals, negotiations, and risk assessment. It also includes overseeing critical success factors such as the implementation and delivery of product performance across the organization.

A key responsibility is negotiating and implementing Framework Agreements, with a strong understanding of both products and processes to maintain Lamprell’s cost-effectiveness. After implementation, ongoing monitoring is required to ensure consistent application and compliance with Lamprell’s HSES and QA/QC policies.

The position demands excellent communication skills to influence internal stakeholders across departments and engage effectively with key external suppliers. It also requires the ability to source technical expertise within the organization to ensure all materials and consumables meet technical specifications and requirements.

All procurement activities must be conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures, with a commitment to integrity, ethical standards, and sound procurement principles throughout the tender process.

Primary responsibilities, authorities & accountabilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of international standards, codes, and regulations. Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders to fully understand technical requirements and their applications
  • Establish and maintain a commercially sound supplier base; explore new and alternative supply sources and support the maintenance of Lamprell’s Approved Supplier List
  • Continuously evaluate and monitor supplier performance to ensure quality and reliability
  • Define and implement sourcing and selection strategies for Framework Agreements as part of category management
  • Coordinate with the Procurement Manager or Deputy Procurement Manager to plan and prioritize purchasing activities
  • Actively collaborate with internal departments on strategic sourcing goals, category strategies, cost-saving initiatives, and demand forecasts
  • Communicate progress on initiatives and savings targets effectively to line management
  • Take overall responsibility for procurement activities within the assigned discipline, ensuring adherence to procedures
  • Assist in training, coordinating, and assigning responsibilities to procurement team members within the discipline
  • Review team members’ recommendations and supporting documents before submitting them for managerial approval
  • Ensure that all team members maintain complete, auditable, and well-organized records of supplier communications and internal correspondence for transparency and future reference in case of disputes

Attainment

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Procurement, with strong expertise in spend analysis
  • In-depth knowledge of Agreements, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations), and Rentals
  • Proficient in Oracle or other ERP systems
  • Experience working in a fabrication yard environment, with a solid understanding of indirect costs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in any discipline
