Lamprell continues to deliver its Leadership Development Programme, a structured initiative designed to strengthen leadership capability and support the next phase of growth.
The programme, developed and delivered by John Macdonald, Chief HR Officer at Lamprell’s parent company, Algihaz Energy Holding, brings together leaders from across Lamprell through a series of focused workshops, coaching sessions and practical assignments aimed at developing both technical leadership skills and behavioural capabilities.
So far, two groups of participants from across the company have completed the training and a further two groups will complete in May, representing a mix of senior leaders, managers and high-potential individuals from a wide range of functions. This cross-functional approach has been a key element of the programme, enabling participants to share experiences and develop a broader understanding of the business.

A structured approach to leadership development
The programme is structured across a series of half-day workshops over a 2-3 month period. These sessions focus on key areas including self-awareness, leadership presence, performance management, influencing and coaching skills.
In addition to the workshops, each participant completes work-based assignments and receives one-to-one coaching to support the application of their learning.
John Macdonald explained that the programme was designed to address both current and future leadership needs within the organisation: “It is about helping people make the transition into more demanding leadership roles. That involves developing self-awareness, improving how they engage with others, and building the confidence to lead in a more complex and fast-moving environment.”
Building capability across the organisation
Participants are selected from multiple disciplines, including engineering, project management, supply chain, finance, HR and operations, ensuring a diverse mix of perspectives within each group.
By bringing together individuals from different parts of the business, the programme supports stronger collaboration and alignment, while also preparing participants to take on broader leadership responsibilities.
Reflecting on the engagement and commitment shown throughout the programme, John noted: “The level of engagement across the groups coached has been very strong. What stood out was participants’ willingness to share openly, learn from one another, and reflect on their leadership approaches. That kind of cross-functional interaction is critical in building a more aligned and collaborative organisation. It has also helped leaders to see the benefits of getting feedback, undertaking self-reflection and continuous learning.”

Supporting the transition into more demanding leadership roles
A key focus of the programme is supporting individuals as they take on greater responsibility within the organisation. The workshops are designed to address real challenges leaders face, including managing teams, addressing performance and navigating organisational complexity.
This is reinforced through coaching sessions and assignments, allowing participants to apply their learning directly to their day-to-day roles.
Commenting on the overall outcomes of the programme, John said: “The completion of the first groups marks an important step in Lamprell’s broader leadership development journey. Participants demonstrated strong engagement throughout, with a clear focus on applying their learning to improve team performance and overall delivery. Early outcomes include improved collaboration, increased confidence, and stronger alignment in leadership behaviours across the organisation.”
Looking ahead
As Lamprell continues to grow, initiatives such as the Leadership Development Programme will play a key role in ensuring the organisation has the skills, behaviours and leadership capacity required to support long-term success.
