Wind turbine foundations

Lamprell has built hundreds of offshore wind turbine foundations and sub-structures, including transition pieces, jackets, suction buckets, and piles for North Sea wind farms. Among these, we delivered 62 transition pieces for Moray West as well as 60 jackets for East Anglia One, 48 for Moray East, and 30 for Seagreen. These projects significantly contribute to powering homes and achieving the UK’s net-zero goals.

Our first transformational jacket project, East Anglia ONE, was awarded by ScottishPower Renewables in 2016 and our scope of work included the procurement, fabrication and supply of 60 foundations, comprising jackets and piles. Building on that success, Moray East was awarded to Lamprell by GeoSea in 2018 and included the fabrication of 45 jacket foundations for the wind farm, plus three jackets for the offshore substations also being installed on the project. Next, the Seagreen project was awarded by Seaway 7 in 2020 and included the construction of 30 jackets and suction caissons.

In 2022, the Moray West offshore wind farm awarded Lamprell with the construction of 62 wind turbine generator transition pieces, including shipping them to a marshalling harbour in the UK. The project was successfully completed in 2024. Lamprell currently has 194 transition pieces in our portfolio, thanks to a contract from RWE which was awarded in September 2024.

In addition to jackets, transition pieces and piles, Lamprell is actively pursuing opportunities for related structures, including monopiles and floating wind.
