Lamprell’s HSES department initiated key safety campaigns for the first quarter of 2024.
The Safe Start campaign was launched on 8th January, signalling a proactive approach to safety at the start of the year. Tailored events were held across all facilities and projects, focusing on areas identified in last year’s safety performance review. Key focus was given to hand injury prevention, working at height safety, and dropped objects mitigation – crucial for our ongoing projects. This campaign involved diverse activities for yard, admin, and management employees, clients, and subcontractors. Yard and supervisory staff engaged in awareness sessions, while administrative and management teams were involved in safety alignment sessions discussing HSES objectives, KPIs, and improvement initiatives for 2024.
As part of Safe Start and, launched on 25th March, a Work at Height campaign was rolled out to address the significant risks associated with working at heights, a leading cause of severe injuries in the energy sector.
It features a variety of activities, including safety exhibits, practical demonstrations, and detailed safety surveys. The campaign aims to enhance awareness and preventive measures against fall and dropped object risks. Given the prevalence of height-related tasks in our projects, this initiative is critical for ensuring safe practices and the well-being of our workforce.
In December 2023, Lamprell’s HSES Department launched a new Subcontractor Safety Alliance. This initiative involves quarterly engagement workshops with labour supply and subcontractor management teams to discuss industry and project specific health and safety issues and best-practice, and formulate improvement plans where necessary. Effective subcontractor management is one of the most critical and challenging safety aspects in the energy industry worldwide and Lamprell is committed to ensuring that all our stakeholders, including those who work with us, go home safely every single day.
